Library and museum automation systems, financial systems, and office workflow systems operating in a LAN environment 2. Remote site systems and networks in a Society-wide WAN environment 3. Internet connections and World Wide Web site 4. Telephone and voicemail systems - Develops and administers internal system and user policy, procedures, and training, which includes: 1. Security administration 2. Backup and other procedures to ensure data integrity 3. Standardization of operations across networks 4. Maintenance of computer equipment inventory 5. QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering required. MCSE preferred. Experience: One year’s employment in business or nonprofit agency highly preferred. Office Assistant / Reservationist, Hale Farm and Village
DUTIES: Handles incoming phone calls and visitors to the HFV office in a friendly and professional manner. Serves as the primary reservationist for all programs that require pre-registration, including school field trips, Holiday Lantern Tours, Farmhouse Suppers, Underground Railroad, craft and trade workshops, etc. Maintains all registration databases. Prepares and mails out confirmation materials to program participants. Maintains the monthly in-house calendar of events. Other duties as Assigned
QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma and at least 1-3 years experience in a similar position. Professional appearance and excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines and attention to detail is a must. A working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Access, and familiarity basic office equipment is required. The Farmer is responsible to the Director of Hale Farm & Village for the health and safety of all HFV livestock and to ensure that they are effectively viewed and educationally interpreted for all visitors. Care for the farm buildings, machinery, fields, and gardens. Teach 19th century history to diverse audiences using a variety of techniques and educational themes; to provide exceptional customer service; to perform necessary maintenance duties on the Farm. To supervise, coordinate, and to serve as a resource and role model to interpretive staff, volunteers, and interns. This position is classified as full-time, operational and is non-exempt with regard to overtime compensation.
DUTIES: 1. Demonstrate 19th century skills, farm chores, and associated historical knowledge. 2. Care for the health, safety, cleanliness, and breeding schedule of all HFV animals. 3. Recommend and oversee the acquisition and disposal of livestock based on health, temperament and program requirements. 4. Responsible for training all livestock, including draft horses and a team of oxen used in programming, and for the supervision and training of all personnel involved in the handling of livestock 5. Responsible for the scheduling, production and delivery of all agricultural programs used in demonstrations throughout HFV 6. Work on and interpret the 19th century farm, gardens, and animal husbandry to visitors of all ages. 7. Maintenance of fences, gates, feed troughs, barns, and outbuildings. 8. Provide to the visiting public with informative, accurate, and engaging information about Hale Farm & Village and 19th century agricultural history in the Western Reserve and America 9. Participate in the school tour program 10. Wear period appropriate clothing 11. Continually improve the historical authenticity of the environment. 12. Maintain the physical cleanliness of the agricultural program utensils and historic sites
QUALIFICATIONS: At least 1-3 years experience in a living history farm operation, a degree in history, agriculture, animal husbandry, or related field. The incumbent should possess a strong working knowledge of farm animal husbandry (horses, cows, sheep, goats, swine, chickens and fowl). Farmer should have an understanding and experience with tools, farming, gardening, and general maintenance. Experience with school tours, outreach programs, and special events are preferred. The position requires working weekends and evenings, and a willingness to perform a wide range of responsibilities is expected. This position must actively support the museum’s mission, policies, and procedures, as well as demonstrate professional behavior, a positive attitude in working with the visiting public, dependability and reliability. DUTIES: Responsible for keeping all Hale Farm & Village buildings, historic and modern, clean and presentable including but not limited to all private and public restroom facilities. Routine cleaning and maintenance must be worked out in cooperation with the Manager of Facility Maintenance and the Chief Curator of the Western Reserve Historical Society. Responsible for the continuous operation of HFV equipment and systems. Responsible for stocking and inventorying all maintenance and operational supplies, including but not limited to staff and public restroom facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of two years of experience in maintenance or a similar position. Incumbent must have a positive attitude and appropriate appearance as many duties involve interaction with the visiting public. Must have a good work record, with experience with building equipment and systems.
